Rann Utsav 2026-27 runs from 1 November 2026 to 7 March 2027 at the Tent City in Dhordo, Kutch. Official Tent City packages start at ₹6,300 per person per night on twin sharing (about ₹7,434 with 18% GST) for a non-AC Swiss cottage in the regular season, with meals, Bhuj transfers and White Rann sunset visits included.

Prices climb by ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 per night in the busy and peak weeks, so your dates matter more than your tent type (approx., as of October 2026)

Below is what each package costs, when prices jump, what is and isn’t included, and how to book without overpaying.

Rann Utsav 2026-27 dates at a glance

The festival season is 1 November 2026 to 7 March 2027, as listed on the official Tent City site run by Evoke Experiences with Gujarat Tourism and reported by Outlook Traveller and Travel Trade Journal. The Tent City sits near Dhordo village, the gateway to the White Rann (the salt desert) in Kutch district.

Pricing works in three bands:

  • Regular: most of November and February, plus 1 to 7 March, excluding full moon nights and Diwali week.

  • Busy: Diwali week (8 to 14 November), the November and February full moons, and December and January outside the peak dates.

  • Peak: 18 December to 2 January, and the December and January full moons.

The higher rate starts one day before each full moon. Full moon nights this season fall around 24 November, 23-24 December, 22 January and 20-21 February.

These are official rates per person per night on twin sharing. The base rates come from the official site (rannutsav.net); the GST-inclusive figures add 18%, as listed by Wego. All are approx., as of October 2026.

A few rules worth knowing before you compare quotes:

  • Children under 6 stay free in their parents’ tent.

  • A third guest on an extra mattress costs ₹4,500 a night in a non-AC cottage and ₹5,500 in other tents in the regular season; ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 in busy and peak periods (before GST) [CHECK].

  • Single occupancy is charged at 75% of the double-occupancy tent price, according to the official site.

  • Multi-night prices are simple multiples in the regular season (₹12,600 for 2 nights, ₹18,900 for 3 nights in a non-AC cottage, before GST).

What does a Rann Utsav package include?

Every official package includes the tent stay, all vegetarian meals (morning tea, breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner), evening cultural programmes, and shared AC coach transfers from Bhuj airport and Bhuj railway station at fixed times. Check-in is 12:30 pm and check-out is 9:30 am.

Sightseeing depends on how long you stay:

Stay

Sightseeing included

1 night

White Rann sunset; Swaminarayan Temple and Kutch Museum in Bhuj on check-out day

2 nights

Adds White Rann sunrise, Kalo Dungar and Gandhi nu Gaam

3 nights

Adds a Dholavira day trip (Harappan site, UNESCO World Heritage)

Not included: the White Rann entry permit (check your booking), adventure activities such as ATV rides and paramotoring, transfers outside the fixed coach timings, and your travel to Bhuj.

Our pick for most budget travellers:

Two nights. One night is rushed, because you arrive in the afternoon and leave early the next morning. Two nights gets you both sunset and sunrise on the salt and a trip to Kalo Dungar, the highest point in Kutch.

How much does a 2-night trip cost for a couple (approx.)?

Here is a sample budget for two adults in a non-AC Swiss cottage in the regular season. Approx., as of October 2026.

  • Tent City package, 2 nights: ₹12,600 × 2 = ₹25,200, plus 18% GST = ₹29,736

  • White Rann permit: ₹100 × 2 = ₹200 (plus a small online service charge)

  • Travel to Bhuj and back

Shift the same stay to Christmas week and the tent cost alone rises to about ₹48,600 for the couple (₹12,154 × 2 nights × 2 people). If your dates are flexible, the first half of November (outside Diwali week) and February outside the full moon are the cheapest windows.

How to book Rann Utsav Tent City

  1. Fix your dates first. Check which pricing band they fall in. Diwali week, Christmas to New Year and full moon nights sell out first.

  2. Book on the official site or through a trusted agent. The official Tent City website is rannutsav.net (toll-free 1800 270 2700). Several look-alike sites sell the same tents, so check the operator’s name before you pay.

  3. Compare a package against booking separately. A package that bundles the tent with Bhuj stays and Gujarat sightseeing can work out cheaper than piecing it together. TravelBudgetly’s Great Rann Utsav 2N packageincludes two nights at the Tent City, meals and Bhuj transfers, and starts from ₹18,600.

  4. Apply for the White Rann permit. Indian nationals can apply online on the Gujarat government permit portal (rannpermit.gujarat.gov.in) and skip the queue at the Bhirandiyara checkpost. Fees are ₹100 for anyone over 12, ₹50 for children aged 6 to 12, and free for children up to 5.

  5. Read the cancellation terms. Wego reports refunds of 90% if you cancel 30 or more days ahead, 60% at 15 to 29 days and nothing within 15 days.

How to reach the Tent City

Bhuj is the gateway. The Tent City is about 80 to 85 km from Bhuj, which takes roughly 1.5 to 3 hours by road depending on the source and traffic at the permit checkpost. Ahmedabad to Bhuj is about 335 km.

  • By air: Bhuj airport has limited direct flights, including from Mumbai. Ahmedabad has far more options, then a train or bus to Bhuj.

  • By train: Bhuj railway station has direct or connecting trains from Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara and Delhi.

  • Package coaches: Free shared coaches leave Bhuj for the Tent City at fixed times (around 8:15 am, 10 am, 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm) and return early morning.

Tips that save money and hassle

  • Carry warm layers. The desert is cold after sunset, and the sunrise trip leaves around 6 am.

  • Every guest needs a government photo ID at check-in, such as Aadhaar. Foreign nationals need a passport and visa.

  • Kalo Dungar is an army area, and photography is restricted near the top.

  • The Kutch Museum in Bhuj is closed on Wednesdays, and the Dholavira museum is closed on Fridays, per published itineraries.

  • Buy crafts at the on-site Haat or in Bhujodi and Ajrakhpur villages, where Ajrakh block printing is done.

FAQs

What is the cheapest Rann Utsav package?

The cheapest official option is a 1-night stay in a non-AC Swiss cottage in the regular season: ₹6,300 per person on twin sharing, or about ₹7,434 with GST. It includes meals, Bhuj transfers and the White Rann sunset visit (approx., as of October 2026).

When is the best time to visit Rann Utsav?

For value, go in November (outside Diwali week) or February. For the classic view of the white desert under moonlight, go on a full moon night, but expect to pay busy or peak rates. December and January are coldest and busiest.

Is a permit required for the White Rann of Kutch?

Yes. Visitors need a permit for the White Rann and Kalo Dungar border area. Indians can apply online on the Gujarat government portal or get one at the Bhirandiyara checkpost. It costs ₹100 for adults and ₹50 for children aged 6 to 12.

How many days are enough for Rann Utsav?

Two nights is enough for the White Rann at sunset and sunrise plus Kalo Dungar. Add a third night if you want to see Dholavira and drive the “Road to Heaven” across the Rann.
