Browsing and comparing holiday packages on TravelBudgetly is free, and no account or sign-up is needed to view packages, itineraries or prices. Travellers pay only the travel partner that handles the actual booking, on that partner’s own website. Subscribing to the TravelBudgetly newsletter is optional and separate from booking.

TravelBudgetly lists both domestic packages within India and international holiday packages. Packages on TravelBudgetly can be filtered by trip type such as family, couple or group, by theme, by trip length in nights, and by budget, so a long list narrows down to trips that match one specific plan.

October to March is the most comfortable time to travel across most of India, with dry weather and mild temperatures in the plains, Rajasthan, Kerala and Goa. Himalayan hill stations are best from April to June, when the plains get very hot, while the June-to-September monsoon brings heavy rain to much of the country.

Most India tour packages include hotel stays, airport or station transfers, the sightseeing named in the itinerary, and some meals — usually breakfast. Flights, visa fees, monument entry tickets, personal expenses and travel insurance are often excluded. Reading one package’s own inclusions and exclusions list is the only reliable way to know what its price covers.

Booking a holiday package in India about four to eight weeks before travel usually gives a good balance of price and availability. For peak periods — the December-January holidays, the May-June summer break, and Diwali week — booking two to three months ahead is safer, because hotels in popular hill stations and beach towns fill up early.

A fixed-departure package runs on set dates with a fixed itinerary shared with a group of other travellers, which usually makes it cheaper per person. A customised package is built around one traveller’s own dates, hotels and pace, costs more per person, and suits families, honeymoons, or anyone who wants to add or skip specific stops.

Most Indian domestic airlines allow about 15 kg of check-in baggage and one 7 kg cabin bag per passenger in economy, though the exact limit depends on the airline and the fare type booked. Excess baggage is charged per kilogram at the airport, and buying extra allowance online in advance is usually cheaper than paying at the counter.

A valid government photo ID is required for domestic flights and hotel check-in in India — an Aadhaar card, passport, driving licence or voter ID is normally accepted. Every adult traveller needs their own ID, and foreign nationals must present a passport with a valid Indian visa at hotels instead of an Indian ID.
